Darling Ingredients is seeking an Environmental Affairs Coordinator in Strawberry Plains, TN. The role involves assisting in compliance with environmental regulations, maintaining records, and supporting training for environmental compliance. Candidates should have a degree in environmental science/engineering or relevant experience. The position requires strong organizational and communication skills, and includes some travel (20-30%). The work environment includes office, industrial, and field settings.
Job Summary The Environmental Affairs Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Manager of Environmental Affairs toward compliance with environmental statutes and regulations. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Assisting in development and implementation of programs, procedures or activities necessary to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and regulations related to the company operations., including maintenance of the Compliance Tracker Program for facilities in the region. Supporting maintenance of records necessary to track environmental authorization reports, expirations, and renewals. Work with Plant Managers/General Managers and Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinators in the development of programs and training to ensure the appropriate level of environmental compliance knowledge is maintained. Timely preparation, review, critique, and approval of environmental permit or renewal applications, and those completed by persons other than the candidate. Tracking and reviewing changes in environmental statutes and regulations on the local, state, and federal level, and advising management of same. Responsible for ensuring the appropriate permit terms and conditions are maintained in company environmental management system. Participate in appropriate environmental training opportunities and seminars. Preparation and submission of Tier II, TRI, GHG, and AEI Reports to states and EPA. Manage conversion of paper files to electronic. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor Degree in environmental science/engineering or related field. OR in lieu of a degree, minimum of 3+ years of related work experience. Preferred Qualifications Strong working computer skills, especially in Word and Excel. Highly organized; superior time management skills. Exceptional communication skills both written and oral. Self-motivated; self-starter. Work well with all levels of the corporation. Physical Demands Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs. Long periods spent sitting at desk in front of computer screen. Regularly required reach with hands and arms. Work Environment Job may require up to 20-30% travel by car or plane with overnight stays. Job functions will be carried out in an office, industrial plant, and/or field environment that may include heat, aerosol, particulate, odor, and hazard exposures.
