About the position

The Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Financial Controller will play a critical role in fulfilling the SEC's new climate change disclosure rules within Morgan Stanley's Investment Banking & Global Capital Markets Finance team. This position is responsible for establishing internal controls and reporting structures to ensure accurate ESG reporting, while collaborating with key stakeholders to align with global regulatory frameworks. The role requires a deep understanding of ESG initiatives and the ability to manage complex data and processes effectively.

Responsibilities
• Establish and manage process and control framework within Finance for ESG reporting.

• Partner with stakeholders in data collection and reporting of ESG activity.
,
• Responsible for the accuracy of ESG related disclosures within the firm's regulatory filings e.g. SEC filings (10-K/10-Q).

• Analysis of the firm's ESG data across the Institutional Securities Groups' businesses.
,
• Perform risk assessments for the design of internal controls and governance.
,
• Coordinate internal and external audits and reviews.
,
• Participate in climate related financial disclosure projects / workstreams.

• Provide status updates to key stakeholders regarding ESG projects.

Requirements
• 7-10 years of experience in financial services, particularly within an ESG focused role, including climate / climate risk / sustainability.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across all levels of management and key stakeholders.
,
• Familiarity with operational and financial data, with ability to connect different data sets.
,
• Understanding of internal/external controls and processes to help deliver on the company's ESG objectives.
,
• Previous experience managing projects and partnering with various teams to establish data requirements.
,
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and effective manner and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Team player with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
,
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills with high regard for attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to navigate a complex organization.

• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
,
• Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of reading financial statements.
