Bechtel is seeking an Environmental, Safety professional for their Uranium Processing Facility in Oak Ridge, TN. The role involves integrating safety into project planning, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements. Project Overview:
Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), our government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The UPF project currently works on a 4X10 work week schedule, with flexible start times and potential overtime opportunities.
As a member of this team, you will integrate safety and health requirements into complex project planning, design, and operations. You will perform risk assessments, provide input on bid decisions, lead meetings and communications, and track and monitor performance trends. Your recommendations will contribute to enhanced quality of safety procedures and work processes.
Main Responsibilities:
• Assist execution of the safety component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
• Help prepare and implement Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
• Provide input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups to assure that safety and health requirements are integrated within project planning and execution.
• Interpret safety and health requirements and provide comprehensive assistance on plan preparation, risk assessment, and ESH program execution.
• Research moderately complex issues and regulatory requirements and prepare documentation and reports.
• Provide support and guidance for safety studies, risk assessments, and program reviews and audits.
• Participate in emergency response and incident investigation and resolution.
• Interface and communicate with stakeholders and help resolve their concerns.
• Participate in meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
• US citizenship
• Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Ability to obtain site security badge for access to work site
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Skilled in oral and written communication and knowledge of computer applications
• Specialized knowledge in safety requirements (e.g., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout/tagout, fall protection, excavation, Craft Based Leadership) or engineering (e.g., civil, process safety, mechanical) or related disciplines
• Knowledge of safety management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies
• Knowledge of safety and health laws and regulations and applicable agencies' permitting processes and responsibilities
• Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes
