About the position

As the Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability Manager at Fastenal, you will play a pivotal role in managing the company's environmental, health, safety, and sustainability functions across all operations. This full-time position is based at the GA100 Distribution Center in Atlanta, GA, and involves working a standard schedule from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Your primary responsibility will be to drive continuous improvement in the company's safety and sustainability culture by providing strategic leadership and subject matter expertise. You will be tasked with developing and implementing programs that promote proactive practices, utilizing prevention and mitigation techniques to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. In this role, you will supervise and lead a team, coordinating employee activities including scheduling, hiring, and training. You will ensure that both short-term and long-term safety goals are met, while also conducting new employee orientations and annual safety training sessions. Compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations will be a key focus, as will performing accident investigations and job safety analyses. You will assist District Managers by providing the necessary tools for branch personnel to complete required safety trainings and ensure compliance with hazardous material regulations. Additionally, you will be responsible for administrative reporting and clerical duties related to safety compliance, as well as developing and implementing emergency action plans and safety procedures within the facility.

• Assisting District Managers with the tools to help all branch personnel complete required safety trainings

• Assisting the Distribution Center and store employees with hazardous material compliance
,
• Completing administrative reporting and related clerical duties
,
• Coordinating compliance with safety standards as well as assisting with policies and procedures
,
• Assisting with developing and implementing emergency action plans and other safety procedures and policies within the facility

Requirements
• 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work
,
• Possess a current full valid driver's license
,
• Possess a degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Public Health, Human Resources, Engineering, Construction, Law Enforcement or a safety/medical related education OR possess at least 3 years of work experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety, law enforcement, public health or construction OR possess at least 1 year of Fastenal leadership work experience

Nice-to-haves
• Prior work experience or education in OSHA, EPA, safety, operations, sustainability, communications, environmental compliance, risk management, business, or a related field
,
• Possess a certification or have prior industry training (i.e. OSHA 30hr, Certified Safety Professional, Qualified Environmental Professional, and Risk Management Certification, or related education)
,
• Willingness to travel 40% of the time while working a flexible schedule
