Job Description

The Environmental, Health & Safety Technician at Equiliem in Los Angeles, CA, ensures compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. Responsibilities include implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, maintaining hazardous waste storage, investigating incidents, and updating EHS materials. Candidates need an associate's degree and at least one year of experience in EHS. The position requires on-site work five days a week.
JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting the department with ensuring compliance with applicable local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Assists with implementation of a broad range of environmental health and safety programs (IIPP, Confined Space, Incident Reporting, Audits/Inspections, Fall Protection, Heat Illness, etc.) to stay in compliance with associated regulations (CAL/OHSA, FED OSHA, SCAQMD, CUPA, DOT, NFPA70E, etc.).

Conducts regular inspections of the studio lot stages and buildings for signs of non-compliance; this includes housekeeping, blockage of emergency exits, incorrect use of equipment or safety accessories, water leaks/water damage in all bathrooms and kitchens, etc.

Assists with the maintenance of central hazardous waste storage area. Collects and sorts hazardous and non-hazardous waste from user's locations.

Observes Contractors for non-compliance issues during construction, repairs, or renovations activities; including in-house facilities staff

Assists with correcting all safety concerns prior to and during special events and activities.

Assists with investigating the cause of incidents/injuries/near misses, provides tracking, and provides corrective actions.

Conducts routine chemical inventory of all chemical storage locations as well as audits the SDS database to ensure accuracy and makes adjustments as necessary.

Assists with updating the EHS intranet webpage.

Interprets governmental rules, regulations, ordinances and codes.

Responds to requests of EHS concerns on a day-to day basis regarding topics such as indoor air quality, water damage, asbestos and lead sampling, PPE, fall protection, and environmental policies.

Attends EHS training sessions and assists with EHS training material.

Maintain supply of EHS PPE stock for the EHS Shed and routine inventory.

Establishes and maintains working relationships with Backlot Departments, Facilities, Studio Medical Services, and Studio Security Department.

Participates in strenuous physical activities relating to environmental, health and safety including, but not limited to, various climbing and lifting assignments.

Performs related special project assignments as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications/Skills

Basic qualifications:

Associates Degree in environmental, health and safety or related discipline is preferred

Minimum 1 years' experience in an environmental, health and safety position

Broad knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations, and the ability to review, understand and interpret regulatory standards

Must be comfortable giving constructive feedback to facilities staff including but not limited to stopping work

Must be willing to work on-site 5 days per week.

Desired Skills:

Bachelor's degree in environmental, health and safety or related discipline is preferred

Strong initiative and independent judgment in routine and emergency situations.

Highly organized and able to carry out multiple assignments concurrently

Strong computer skills required (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)

Excellent oral and written skills and an ability to effectively communicate ideas in a clear, concise, and professional manner

Self-starter and capable of working independently without extensive direction or oversight

Strong planning, organizing, and leadership skills
