Job Description

The Environment, Health and Safety Manager oversees the organization's EHS programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting safety culture. Responsibilities include program development, training, risk assessment, incident investigation, and sustainability initiatives. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 5 years of EHS management experience. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for this role based in Dayton, OH.
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for overseeing the organization’s environmental, health, and safety programs. This includes ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, managing risk, implementing safety procedures, and promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout the company. The EHS Manager will develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs to reduce environmental impact and improve the health and safety standards of employees.

Key Responsibilities:
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the organization is in compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations (local, state, and federal). Keep current with new laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Program Development & Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, policies, and procedures that meet or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Training and Education: Conduct regular safety training sessions, workshops, and drills to ensure employees understand the company's safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental policies.
• Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification: Regularly perform workplace inspections to identify potential safety hazards, environmental risks, and areas for improvement. Develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
• Incident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions. Ensure all incidents are properly reported to regulatory agencies when necessary.
• Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure that all employees are familiar with evacuation routes, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Lead and support sustainability efforts such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and green initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.
• Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, audits, and regulatory compliance documents for internal and external audits.
• Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and continuously improve EHS programs to enhance the company’s safety culture, environmental performance, and overall effectiveness.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Operations, HR, and Legal, to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into company-wide operations.

Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are preferred.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety management, with a proven track record of implementing and managing EHS programs in a corporate or industrial setting.
• Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of EHS regulations, including OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and state and local safety laws. Familiarity with risk management and emergency response protocols.
• Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to train and engage employees at all levels. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
