Job Description
Glencore is seeking an Environment & Community Officer for the Liddell Coal Closure Project in Liddell, NSW. This role involves managing environmental and community aspects of the project, implementing the Environmental Management System, and engaging with stakeholders. Candidates should have qualifications in Environmental Science or Engineering and relevant experience. The position is full-time and not remote, as it is based on-site at the former mining operation.

Environment & Community Officer, Liddell Coal Closure Project
Liddell Coal Closure Project is a former open cut mining operation located at Ravensworth in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. With mining operations ceasing in late 2023, Liddell is currently executing rehabilitation and mine closure activities.
About the role:
Reporting to the Environment & Community Manager, and as an integral member of the Liddell Environment & Community team, the primary purpose of this role is to assist with managing the environment and community aspects of the Closure Project. The role will focus on the implementation of the Environmental Management System to ensure ongoing compliance and will provide environmental advice and education to internal and external stakeholders.
In this role you will be responsible for:
• Providing technical and operational support relating to Environment & Community Management for the Liddell Coal Closure Project
• Assist in the implementation of the Environmental Management System, including meeting ongoing reporting requirements and compliance measures
• Manage land management and rehabilitation activities
• Engagement with internal and external stakeholders
• Contribute to planning and execution of mine closure processes
About you:
• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or Engineering is essential
• Relevant experience in previous environment and community roles
• Working knowledge of NSW legislative requirements
• Prior experience in Mining is desirable, particularly land management and rehabilitation
• Excellent communication skills and computer skills
