Job Description
SCS Engineers is hiring an Entry-level Environmental Scientist in Medford, NJ. The role involves supporting environmental projects, including compliance, permitting, and site investigations. Responsibilities include data analysis, environmental reporting, and fieldwork. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in environmental science and some relevant experience. The position requires fieldwork and some travel. Pay ranges from $55,000 to $65,000 per year.
What we are looking for
SCS Engineers is looking for an Entry-level Environmental Scientist to support our environmental services projects from our Medford, NJ office. Our typical environmental service projects include air quality and stormwater and compliance and permitting, site investigation, remediation, spill response and real estate due diligence services for commercial, municipal, and industrial clients.

How you can make an impact
You will assist senior project team members in meeting client goals by efficiently completing environmental compliance, reporting and permitting activities as well as sampling, data analysis and other project tasks as assigned.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
• Perform environmental compliance reporting tasks, data analysis and site investigations.
• Assist in the preparation of air quality and other environmental permit applications and human health risk assessments.
• Participate in sample collection activities at various environmental and solid waste sites. Coordinate sampling activities with laboratories to provide timely analysis of samples. Troubleshoot issues when necessary.
• Review laboratory and/or field data and prepare data summaries (tables, graphs, maps) as needed.
• Identify and troubleshoot potential operation and maintenance (O&M) issues at solid waste facilities.
• Compile or review routine and non-routine regulatory submittals or technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to applicable regulatory and/or client requirements.
• Assist in the planning and execution of fieldwork; coordinate work with other staff as needed.
• Complete quality control reviews on all work products (reports, data, etc.) prior to submission.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science or related science required.
• Minimum of 3 months of relevant environmental internship, work and/research experience required.
• Experience with federal and state regulatory interpretation and compliance preferred.
• Completion of (or willingness to complete) a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training and annual refresher training required.
• Ability to perform fieldwork including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time required. Up to 30% of time will be spent in the field. Some travel with limited overnight stays can be expected. Some extended project fieldwork may be required.
Pay Range
USD $55,000.00 - USD $65,000.00 /Yr.
