Applied Geology and Environmental Science (AGES), Inc., is a small, privately held environmental and remedial field services company headquartered near the Pittsburgh International Airport in Clinton, Pennsylvania. Our services include environmental site investigation, soil, groundwater and concrete remedial design and implementation, remedial field construction services, Phase I and II environmental site assessments (ESAs), environmental due diligence, storage tank investigation, closure, installation and environmental permitting and compliance support. To support our growing backlog of work, AGES is recruiting to hire a full-time, early career GIS Technician/Geospatial Scientist to join our growing water resource assessment and mapping team. This hands-on position will be a combination of field and office work and will involve all parts of our mapping projects, from data collection through the final project deliverable.

This position requires a BS in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science or a related field, or applicable experience. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of ESRI ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro software, Google Earth Pro software, and MS Office, with experience using GIS field equipment and spatial data collection software. Strong analytical skills and precision in performing spatial analysis tasks and the ability to complete required job certifications is a must.

Must be able to complete overnight stays during field work, typically for up to one (1) week at a time, and traverse rugged terrain, carrying up to 20 pounds of equipment for up to one (1) mile. A knowledge of subsurface utility locating equipment is a plus.

For this position, you will work as part of a team on our water resource assessment and mapping projects. Field duties will include collecting spatial data within or near surface water bodies using GIS field equipment, including remote-controlled watercrafts and possibly aircrafts, and completing residential surface water and groundwater assessments, including sample collection. All work must be done in strict adherence to the health and safety protocols of AGES and the client

Office duties will include performing remote desktop assessments on land acquisition projects, and organizing, processing, editing and do QA/QC checks of geo-spatial data. Other duties would include assisting project managers with project layout and planning, data management, spatial data presentation, and report creation. There is also the potential to work on other non-spatial projects at AGES.
