Job Description

ChargePoint is seeking an Engineering Documentation Specialist/Drafter to support the Mechanical Design and Interconnect Design engineering group. Responsibilities include maintaining technical drawing standards, reviewing engineering drawings, and managing BOMs. Candidates should have expertise in 2D drawings, GD&T, and CAD software (NX preferred). Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential. The position is remote, allowing work from anywhere, with occasional travel to ChargePoint HQ.

Reports To

Sr. Manager, Mechanical Design Engineering

What You Will Be Doing

The Engineering Documentation Specialist will work as a member of the Mechanical Design and Interconnect Design engineering group supporting all product lines. Your role will be owning and maintaining the technical drawing standards by reviewing engineering drawings and then driving the release of those documents through our ECO process. Your role will also include supporting the engineering team to execute on Mechanical and Interconnect drawings and updates as required.

You will work closely with our product design, hardware design, program management, and operations organizations and play a direct role in the execution of ChargePoint’s products. We are seeking a confident and personable individual who has exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

As part of the Mechanical Design team your responsibilities will include leading the team in maintaining drawing standards, BOM creation and engineering change / configuration management across multiple programs. You must be capable of operating in a fast-paced environment and able to deal with constant change. Duties include:
• Managing and maintaining technical drawing standards
• Reviewing and optimizing 2D drawings, including understanding tolerances of various manufacturing methods and GD&T
• BOM Configuration Management
• BOM creation / change management
• Proficient in CAD (NX highly preferred, others accepted)
• Proficient in Teamcenter PDM and Arena PLM software
• Strong Communication Skills

Requirements
• Expert knowledge in 2D drawings for Mechanical and Cable design
• Expert knowledge in GD&T and other tolerancing methods
• Expert knowledge of CAD software (NX preferred)
• Formboard experience (Zuken preferred)
• Working proficiency in Arena PLM
• Excellent communication & problem-solving skills
• Occasional travel to ChargePoint HQ in Campbell, CA

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 2-5 years minimum industry experience in engineering or documentation role
