Job Description

The Engineer I position at Baltimore County Government involves performing routine engineering work in the Green Storm Water Infrastructure Design Section. About the position

The Engineer I position in the Green Storm Water Infrastructure Design Section of the Department of Public Works: Engineering and Construction involves performing routine professional engineering work under close supervision. The role focuses on the feasibility assessment, design, technical review, and project management of various water resource and storm water engineering projects, contributing to the improvement of natural waterway systems and stormwater management.

Responsibilities
• Perform routine professional engineering work under close supervision.
,
• Assist in the feasibility assessment, design, technical review, and project management of capital, water resource, and storm water engineering projects.
,
• Draft plans, determine right-of-way requirements, write special provisions, and prepare construction estimates.
,
• Review consultant design plans and grading plans.
,
• Conduct GIS work and computer-aided drafting and design of engineering drawings, plans, and projects.
,
• Perform hydraulic/hydrologic analyses of watersheds and natural waterway systems through technical computations and computer modeling.

• Conduct field inspections and investigations of watershed/waterway restoration projects.
,
• Investigate public complaints regarding natural waterway systems and engineering matters.
,
• Assist in the preparation of engineering reports and technical studies.
,
• Provide advice, consultation, and technical assistance to the public, architects, contractors, and other engineers.

Requirements
• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering.
,
• Possession of a certificate of registration as an Engineer in Training issued by a State within the United States of America.

Nice-to-haves
• College coursework, internships, and/or work experience in civil, water resources engineering, hydrology, stormwater management, storm drain design, watershed/water quality planning, and/or applied environmental projects such as stormwater management design, wetland restoration, and stormwater treatment Best Management Practices.
