Job Description

The Engagement Coordinator for Conservation International will support the Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program by organizing events, facilitating knowledge sharing, and assisting with communications. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills and involves coordinating virtual and in-person meetings. This full-time position is hybrid or remote, with some international travel required. Candidates should have 2 to 4 years of experience in program coordination or event planning.

POSITION SUMMARY - This Position Is Based In Arlington-VA

The Engagement Coordinator will support the implementation of the GEF-funded Ecosystem Restoration Integrated Program (ERIP), which brings together over 20 countries and global partners to scale up restoration efforts.

As part of the Global Coordination Unit (GCU), the Coordinator will help organize major events, facilitate knowledge sharing through Communities of Practice (CoPs), and assist with communication and governance activities. This role is ideal for a highly organized, proactive team player with strong communication skills and cross-cultural sensitivity.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Restoration Partnerships Director, and working closely with the Communications & Knowledge Manager, the Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for the following core activities:

Annual Meetings and Event Coordination
• Support planning and logistics for the ERIP Annual Meeting and other global and regional learning events.
• Assist with travel coordination, session logistics, and participant follow-up.
• Help prepare event materials and track participation.

Communities of Practice (CoPs)
• Coordinate virtual CoP meetings and support logistics for in-person sessions.
• Assist with scheduling, materials, and note-taking.
• Help document and share key outcomes and lessons learned.

Program Communications and Knowledge Management
• Help maintain the ERIP website and online platforms.
• Assist in preparing newsletters, announcements, and communications materials.
• Support the development and organization of knowledge products (e.g., blogs, videos, highlights).
• Help manage contact lists and knowledge-sharing tools.

Program Governance Support
• Provide administrative support for governance meetings (Advisory Council, working groups, etc.).
• Assist with agenda prep, note-taking, and coordination across teams.
• Help keep internal calendars, contact lists, and shared resources updated.

Other Duties
• Help coordinate surveys, polls, and engagement tools.
• Provide scheduling and admin support for the Global Coordination Unit.
• Support tracking of key deliverables and deadlines.
• Update information on CI´s reporting platforms.
• Other duties as assigned by the manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• This is a full-time position. Work will be performed in a hybrid or remote setting, with regular engagement across time zones.
• Some international travel (up to 20–30%) may be required to attend or support key program meetings and events.
• Extended or flexible work hours may occasionally be needed to accommodate coordination with global partners.
• Guidance on flexible work arrangements will be shared during the interview process.

Qualifications

Required
• 2 to 4 years of experience in program coordination, stakeholder engagement, or event planning, ideally in an international or multi-country context.
• Proven ability to coordinate complex projects and engage diverse stakeholders across geographies.
• Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and planning skills, with keen attention to detail and follow-through.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and/or facilitating virtual and in-person meetings and events.
• Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., MS Office, online collaboration platforms) and content management tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional, multicultural team.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, international relations, environmental science, development, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of Portuguese or French.
• Familiarity with knowledge management platforms and digital engagement tools (e.g., forums, surveys, polling apps).
• Experience with communications content development, such as blogs, newsletters, or social media.
• Experience supporting international programs or multi-country teams.
• Interest in ecosystem restoration, sustainable development, or environmental programs.
