The intern will assist with energy reduction projects, data management, analysis, and sustainability initiatives, working full-time during breaks and part-time during the school year. This internship will pay $17.00/hour. This is a hourly position.
Overview
Energy & Sustainability Data Analysis Intern
This internship will require the student to work full time hours (Monday-Friday) during school and breaks and summer. Student will work part time hours during the school year (flexible based on class schedule. Ideally looking for a student that can work an internship on an indefinite basis (up to their graduation with their undergrad)
The internship is located in Peoria, IL and the student must be able to work in Peoria, IL.
Starting pay for this position is $17.00/hour
POSITION SUMMARY: The intern is required to perform the following tasks under the direction of a manger or director in the Facilities Operation and Planning (FO&P) Division: works closely with FO&P Mission Partners to assist with energy reduction project planning, documentation and implementation; data management, analysis, and graphical representations; building automation system (BAS) optimization and trend evaluation; and other environmental sustainability initiatives as directed by the Manager.
• Collect, organize, analyze, and chart program data for energy consumption, water consumption, waste generation, purchasing data and other designated and assigned focus areas.
• Create new and improve existing spreadsheets for data management and energy/sustainability reporting. Includes expressing energy savings as environmental benefits (for example, carbon emissions).
• Utilize software platforms, such as Power BI, for data analytics and building data dashboards for large data sets related to energy, sustainability, or other aspects of Facilities operations.
• Develop clear, easy-to-understand short summaries and graphic representations of project results. Prepare charts and Powerpoint for quarterly energy meetings with Facilities.
• Support development and advancement of SmartSheets for project management applications.
• Assist with implementation of energy and sustainability program as directed by energy and sustainability manager in alignment with Ministry and program goals and priorities.
• Positively impacts, through design and technical solutions, the healing environment and well-being of the patient, while supporting staff, physicians, administrators and the OSF Mission of the Sisters.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Student currently enrolled in college or university with progression towards a Bachelor's Degree with concentration in a technical field, preferably data science or data analytics; other majors that will be considered include mechanical engineering, physics, and environmental science.
Other Skills/Knowledge: Excellent computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel primarily. In particular, Excel skills should be above average including competency handling larger data tables, charting, trend analysis, pivot tables, and statistical functions.
Good time management skills in order to set priorities in work, critically think through and analyze different types of data and develop reports on data gathered.
Written and oral presentation skills; very organized; works independently and as part of a team on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to negotiate and integrate opposing points of view in a professional manner.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, with good organizational skills and judgment.
Develops and maintains positive working relationships.
Basic understanding of/and compliance of office procedures and time management goals for projects and tasks.
