Job Description

SJ Group is hiring an Energy Transition Analyst in Singapore to lead advisory work in industrial development and energy transition. Responsibilities include strategic analysis of macroeconomic and geopolitical trends, providing client advisory services, preparing reports and presentations, and mentoring junior team members. A degree in a relevant field is required, along with strong analytical skills and willingness to travel for client engagements.
We are seeking a dynamic and analytical professional to support and lead advisory work in industrial development, energy transition, and renewables strategy. The role involves analysing macroeconomic and geopolitical trends, providing strategic recommendations to clients, and supporting policy and investment promotion initiatives across key industry sectors.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic & Market Analysis
• Analyse key macroeconomic, geopolitical, and business trends impacting industrial development, energy transition, and renewable energy sectors.
• Assess global and regional developments affecting industry competitiveness and investment flows.
• Conduct value chain analysis for priority industry clusters (e.g., petrochemical, semiconductor, biomedical, logistics, marine and related sectors).
• Advisory & Strategy Development
• Provide advisory services to clients on:
• Industrial development roadmaps
• Industry cluster strategy and value chain positioning
• Energy transition and renewables strategy
• Park management and industrial estate planning
• Investment promotion strategy
• Policy formulation relating to industrial development
• Develop data-driven recommendations and strategic frameworks tailored to client needs.
• Reporting & Presentation
• Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and policy papers (PowerPoint, Word, or other formats) based on research findings and strategic recommendations.
• Present findings and recommendations to clients, including senior stakeholders.
• Be prepared to travel (including overseas) for client presentations and engagements.
• Leadership & Team Management
• Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to junior team members.
• Review analytical outputs to ensure quality, rigour, and alignment with project objectives.
• Contribute to team capability building and knowledge sharing.
• Additional Responsibilities
• Support business development initiatives where required.
• Assist on other matters related to team objectives and strategic initiatives.
Requirements

• Degree in Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Business, Urban Planning, or related discipline (Postgraduate qualification preferred for senior roles).
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Demonstrated interest in industrial development, economic development, and energy transition.
• Experience in industrial or economic development projects is preferred.
• Prior experience in economic development agencies (e.g., JTC, EDB, ESG) will be advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present to senior stakeholders.
• Good people management and interpersonal skills.
• Resourceful, self-motivated, and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel for client engagements.
