Job Description
Bajaj Auto is hiring for an Energy Storage Mechanical Integration role in Maharashtra, India. The position requires expertise in fuel cell stack design, electrochemical fundamentals, materials science, thermal management, and system integration. Candidates should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering and over 5 years of experience in fuel cell development. Desirable skills include knowledge of digital twins and project management in a collaborative environment.
Core Technical Skillsets Required:
• Fuel Cell Stack Design & Optimization
• Expertise in designing and optimizing fuel cell stacks, including bipolar plate design, flow field configuration, and cell architecture.
• Knowledge of balance-of-plant components such as humidifiers, compressors, and heat exchangers.
• Electrochemical Fundamentals & Catalyst Development
• Deep understanding of electrochemical reactions, catalyst performance, and degradation mechanisms.
• Experience with catalyst formulation and testing to enhance reaction kinetics and improve cell efficiency.
• Material Science & Durability Engineering
• Proficiency in selecting and characterizing membrane materials, gas diffusion layers, and electrode structures.
• Hands-on experience with advanced materials testing (e.g., in-situ spectroscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) to assess durability and performance.
• Thermal & Fluid Management
• Skills in thermal modeling and simulation to ensure optimal temperature control across the cell stack.
• Experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for managing reactant flow distribution and cooling system design.
• Multi-Physics Simulation & Modeling
• Proficiency with simulation tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL Multiphysics, or equivalent software for multi-scale modeling of fuel cell performance.
• Ability to develop digital twins and predictive models for system diagnostics and performance optimization.
• System Integration & Control Engineering
• Experience integrating fuel cell modules with power electronics, battery systems, and vehicle control units.
• Development and fine-tuning of control algorithms for transient load management, dynamic response, and energy efficiency.
• Data Analytics & Testing Methodologies
• Proficiency in analyzing experimental and simulation data to validate design assumptions and drive iterative improvements.
• Experience in developing robust test protocols and utilizing instrumentation for real-time performance monitoring.
• Manufacturing & Scale-Up Processes
• Insight into translating lab-scale prototypes to scalable manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with quality assurance, process optimization, and regulatory compliance in fuel cell production.
• Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, from conceptual design through to production, in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
• Effective communication skills to liaise between R&D, engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams.

• Familiarity with current trends in digital twins, AI-driven predictive maintenance, and integrated hybrid powertrain systems.
• Experience in rapid prototyping and iterative design in fast-paced, high-tech environments.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on energy systems.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in fuel cell development with deep expertise in electrochemistry, thermal management, and materials science.
• Proven track record in developing high-performance fuel cell systems, with experience from reputed organizations preferred.
• Proficiency in advanced simulation and modeling tools, data analytics, and control systems design.
• Strong problem-solving skills, project management capabilities, and effective cross-functional communication.
