Tesla is hiring an Energy Storage Engineer in Phoenix, AZ, responsible for designing and developing energy storage solutions like Powerwall and Megapack. Tesla is seeking a talented Energy Storage Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, Arizona. This role is critical to the design, development, and deployment of Tesla's energy storage solutions, including Powerwall, Powerpack, and Megapack. You will work on cutting-edge battery technology, power electronics, and control systems to enable the transition to sustainable energy.

Responsibilities:
Design and analyze battery energy storage systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale applications. Develop system requirements and specifications based on performance targets and grid codes. Perform system modeling and simulation using tools like MATLAB/Simulink. Design and optimize control algorithms for battery management and grid interaction. Select and integrate power electronics components (inverters, converters). Analyze system performance data and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with hardware, software, and manufacturing teams. Develop test plans and procedures for system validation. Troubleshoot issues during system integration and deployment. Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations. Stay updated on the latest battery and energy storage technologies. Participate in design reviews and technical discussions. Develop documentation for system design and operation. Support the commissioning and field deployment of energy storage systems. Perform thermal management analysis for battery systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field required. 3+ years of experience in battery technology, power electronics, renewable energy, or energy storage systems. Experience with battery management systems (BMS). Proficiency in system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSLF, PSS/E). Understanding of power electronics concepts and topologies. Knowledge of grid integration requirements and standards (e.g., IEEE 1547). Experience with control system design. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment. Experience with CAD software is a plus. Knowledge of safety standards (e.g., UL 1973, NFPA 855).
