About the position

The Associate Project Developer (APD) at New Leaf Energy plays a crucial role in supporting the company's clean energy initiatives in the New England region. This position focuses on identifying and screening project opportunities, managing project due diligence, and facilitating the development of renewable energy projects, particularly in solar and energy storage. The APD will work closely with project developers and engage with landowners to ensure successful project execution, contributing to the company's mission of accelerating the transition to renewable energy.

Responsibilities
• Lead prospecting using GIS tools to identify high-potential land parcels for solar and storage projects.

• Research leads through targeted outreach including mailers and phone calls, documenting opportunities in Salesforce.

• Create due diligence packages for project developers and schedule meetings with interested landowners.
,
• Conduct desktop reviews for project due diligence, assessing topography, soil conditions, and environmental restrictions.

• Request quotes and manage on-site work such as surveying and wetlands flagging.
,
• Update project budgets and create project spend requests in Salesforce.
,
• Initiate and send letters of intent (LOIs) and leases to landowners.
,
• Follow up with authorities for timely delivery of decision documents.
,
• Complete cash flow models to assess project viability under changing conditions.
,
• Review RFPs and complete questionnaires to support project developers.
,
• Record required documents at local and county record offices during project close-out.
,
• Coordinate contract amendments and prepare project data rooms for marketing.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Project Development, Environmental Science, or related field.

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in solar sales or development preferred.
,
• Proficiency in GIS tools and Microsoft Excel; experience with Salesforce is a plus.

Nice-to-haves
• Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Experience building sensitivity models in Excel or Google Sheets.
