Description
E&E News is seeking a reporter to cover one of the hottest topics in Washington D.C. and the country – the nexus between energy policy and politics. With President Biden making climate change a top priority, the beat offers a fantastic opportunity for the right reporter to break news about the Department of Energy and White House, and write deep dives on everything from solar scandals to oil pipelines.
We’re looking for someone who can deliver scoops, be enterprising and move with ease between daily news and in-depth features. The beat offers a broad playing field for a reporter to choose topics of interest, including nuclear power, oil and gas, renewables, environmental justice and electric vehicles. There would be opportunities for travel.
What You'll Need:
Clips showing both breaking news and feature-writing ability, and a track record delivering scoops
A deep understanding of the political process and interest in the energy sector
An ability to write political analysis through an energy lens and explain complex topics with snappy, clean writing
Previous experience covering a federal agency or the White House a plus
