Job Description
Xcel Energy is seeking an Energy Management System/SCADA Consultant to analyze client requirements and troubleshoot SCADA and EMS applications for their Bulk Electric System. The role involves system configuration, problem analysis, and acting as a Subject Matter Expert while collaborating with various teams. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, programming skills, and familiarity with SCADA systems. This is a contractor position based in Golden, CO.
Job Summary
The position involves analyzing client business requirements to troubleshoot technical issues related to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Energy Management System (EMS) applications for Xcel Energy's Bulk Electric System (BES). The role requires expertise in system configuration, problem analysis, and real-time technology operations. Acting as a communication liaison and Subject Matter Expert (SME), the individual will collaborate with various teams to ensure seamless EMS application integration.
Responsibilities
• Gather and analyze client business requirements for SCADA and EMS applications.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to SCADA systems, ICCP, TSM, GDC/AGC, DTS, etc.
• Act as an SME for EMS applications, facilitating communication between different teams.
• Assist in configuring interfaces for EMS applications with enterprise systems like ESB and APIs.
• Engage in project management activities to ensure timely project delivery.
• Develop HMI screens, modify database points, and support Change Management processes.
Skills
• Proficiency in programming languages like C, C++, Python, etc., for system integration.
• Experience with networking protocols, automation, and control systems.
• Familiarity with Electric SCADA Systems & Real-Time Data Broadcasting.
• Knowledge of NERC-CIP regulations and Change Management tools like ServiceNow.
• Ability to work with data historians such as PI and OATI Web Applications.
• Strong analytical skills and a positive mindset towards problem-solving.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required.
