About the position

The Energy Auditor I - Virtual position at Franklin Energy involves providing utility clients with a variety of energy-saving and renewable energy solutions. The role is focused on conducting virtual inspections of buildings to assess their current energy usage and making recommendations to optimize efficiency and reduce costs. This position is essential in helping clients meet their energy-saving goals through customized energy efficiency programs. Franklin Energy has developed several software products that support program delivery, alongside limited direct software sales and consulting agreements. As an Energy Auditor, you will be responsible for completing virtual walk-through energy efficiency assessments, guiding customers on the installation of energy efficiency equipment, and enhancing customer awareness of rebate programs and demand-side management initiatives. The role requires a proactive approach to customer engagement, where you will analyze data and online building information prior to appointments to identify potential efficiency opportunities. You will deliver high-quality virtual energy auditing services via phone, text, or video chat, establishing rapport with utility customers and discussing their energy usage. Your duties will include conducting thorough virtual assessments of properties, educating end users about energy efficiency, and composing detailed audit reports that outline findings and recommendations. You will also be expected to identify ways to improve program operations and maintain accurate records and documentation. While primarily remote, there may be occasions when field support is necessary, requiring flexibility in your work approach.

Responsibilities
• Review and analyze data, including online building site information and energy usage, to determine preliminary opportunities for efficiency and savings.

• Deliver professional, high-quality virtual energy auditing services to utility customers over the phone, text, and/or video chat.

• Complete virtual walk-through energy assessments of properties to identify key energy-saving opportunities and promote behavioral change.

• Provide thorough education to end users regarding energy efficiency and explain assessment findings clearly to building owners.
,
• Instruct customers on the installation of energy-saving devices such as lighting and smart thermostats.
,
• Compose and deliver audit reports containing results of energy analysis and recommendations for improved efficiency.
,
• Identify and recommend ways to improve program operations and delivery.
,
• Drive improvements in quality, customer satisfaction, and productivity.
,
• Accurately complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, and documents.

• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules, regulations, and practices.

Requirements
• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
,
• Two years of previous related work experience.
,
• 1-2 years of experience in marketing, community organizing, education, customer service, or a related field, with virtual experience preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
,
• Ability to interact well with customers and coworkers in a virtual environment.

• Good research and organizational skills.

• Ability to explain complicated matters to a variety of individuals in a virtual environment.

• Technologically adept with strong data entry skills.

• Detail-oriented, organized, self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Basic understanding of methods used for technical and cost savings analysis and reporting.

• Basic understanding of energy modeling software and energy conservation principles.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in residential building construction or HVAC systems installation, sales, or service.

• Energy efficiency designations or certificates such as Advanced Home Energy Professional (HEP), Building Analyst, or Envelope Professional.
