About the position
The Energy Advisor at the High Country Conservation Center (HC3) plays a crucial role in advancing the organization's Climate and Energy programs. This position is designed for an individual who is passionate about energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. The Energy Advisor will serve as HC3's energy efficiency expert, leading the Energy Smart Colorado program, which includes providing education to homeowners, conducting energy audits, and supporting local contractors through training initiatives. The Advisor will also engage in climate action initiatives, participating in building efficiency working groups to promote sustainable practices within the community. In this role, the Energy Advisor will oversee the Energy Smart program, which provides essential services such as energy audits, energy advising, contractor referrals, and rebates to homeowners in Summit County. This involves developing annual program budgets, maintaining rebate budgets, and ensuring that the Salesforce database is kept up to date. The Advisor will track energy audits and improvements, model savings from energy projects, and process rebates. A significant part of the job will also involve following up with homeowners post-audit to encourage energy efficiency upgrades and answering any questions they may have. The Energy Advisor will be responsible for conducting approximately 50 home energy audits annually, delivering timely reports to customers, and providing follow-up advising. Additionally, the Advisor will support the implementation of the Climate Action Plan by assisting the Climate Action Director with committee meetings, projects, and events. This position also includes supporting HC3's fundraising efforts and community events, such as Party for the Planet and Save Our Snow. This full-time position requires a blend of office work and community engagement, with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, including one work-from-home day. The role may also require occasional evening and weekend work to fulfill community engagement and program needs.
Responsibilities
• Oversee Energy Smart program with support from Climate Action Manager, providing energy audits, advising, contractor referrals, and rebates to homeowners.

• Develop annual program budgets and maintain rebate budgets, ensuring the Salesforce database is updated.

• Maintain tracking processes for energy audits and improvements, including modeling savings and processing rebates.
,
• Follow up with homeowners post-audit to encourage energy-efficiency upgrades and address questions.
,
• Attend monthly calls with Energy Smart partners across the state to coordinate efforts and share insights.
,
• Develop and execute Energy Smart workshops for community members and contractors, coordinating logistics such as invitations and speakers.

• Collaborate with Climate Action Director and Climate Action Manager to strategize improvements for the Energy Smart Colorado program.

• Support special projects, including programs for HOAs and multi-family buildings.
,
• Complete approximately 50 home energy audits annually and deliver timely audit reports to customers.

• Assist Climate Action Director with committee meetings, projects, and events related to the Climate Action Plan.

• Research and provide recommendations for energy program improvements to achieve Climate Action Plan goals.

• Support HC3 fundraisers and events, including Party for the Planet and Save Our Snow.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (5+ years in energy or construction fields).
,
• Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification preferred, with experience in energy audits and energy ratings.
,
• At least three years of experience in environmental, nonprofit, and/or construction fields.
,
• Strong interest in environmental stewardship and conservation.
,
• Conceptual and practical understanding of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
,
• Experience in office and customer service relations.
,
• Strong basic math skills and aptitude for learning energy efficiency and green building concepts.
,
• Ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
,
• Strong computer skills, especially in Word and Excel; database experience is a plus.

• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record.
