About the position

Exponent is seeking an Energy, Environment and Infrastructure Focused Data Scientist to join their Data Sciences Practice in Los Angeles, CA. This role involves working collaboratively to solve complex technical problems for clients in various sectors, including consumer electronics, utilities, and life sciences. The Data Scientist will be responsible for developing algorithms, conducting data analyses, and creating visualizations to support client needs, while also having the opportunity to shape their consulting practice based on their skills and interests.

Responsibilities
• Support consulting activities related to large-scale network problems involving energy, environment, and infrastructure.

• Develop cloud-based storage and computation solutions, including client-facing visualizations of key decision metrics.
,
• Actively solve technical and logistical problems in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements
• M.S. in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related engineering/scientific field (e.g., Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics).
,
• Demonstrated experience and expertise in data/software product development, spatial analysis, and engineering data pipelines.
,
• Proficiency with two or more programming languages: Python, R, C++, SQL, and Linux (RH 7+).

• Prior experience with energy, environment, and infrastructure-related projects is preferred.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in software verification and validation.

• Desire to work with a varied set of clients and Exponent teams on interdisciplinary projects.
