About the position
The Emergency Management Specialist position at the Department of Defense involves managing various Emergency Management Programs for the command. This role requires the management and preparation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to effectively respond to threats and hazards that may impact the installation. The specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing emergency plans, coordinating with local officials, and conducting training exercises to enhance the organization's emergency response capabilities. In addition to the core responsibilities, the position requires the incumbent to assist leadership in preparing after-action reports and improving emergency response programs. The role is critical in ensuring that the command is ready to handle emergencies and can recover quickly from any disruptions. The specialist will also be involved in compliance with federal and Department of the Army Drug-Free Workplace Programs, and will need to maintain a Secret security clearance throughout their employment. This position is designated as Emergency-Essential and Mission Essential, indicating its importance in maintaining operational readiness. The position requires shift work to provide coverage during evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations, reflecting the unpredictable nature of emergency management. The incumbent will also be expected to travel for Temporary Duty (TDY) or business purposes approximately 25% of the time. Responsibilities

Requirements
