Job Description
The Embodied Carbon Specialist at Eastern Research Group, Inc. (ERG) in Boston, MA, will manage project teams to deliver sustainability analyses related to embodied carbon in the built environment. About the position
The Embodied Carbon Specialist at ERG will be a key member of the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) team, focusing on managing project teams to deliver data-driven sustainability analyses related to embodied carbon in the built environment. This role requires a highly motivated individual with a strong technical background and the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment. The specialist will work closely with clients to assess environmental outcomes and develop sustainable approaches.
Responsibilities
• Manage project teams of 2 to 5 staff to deliver data-driven projects to clients.

• Conduct embodied carbon analyses for the built environment.

• Support government clients in assessing environmental outcomes associated with products and infrastructure systems.

• Identify preferred products, processes, and policies for sustainability analysis.

• Engage with clients and organize collaborative team efforts.
Requirements
• Master's degree in Environmental Science/Management, Engineering, or a related field with coursework in life cycle assessment, or equivalent experience.

• 4 to 7 years of applied professional experience in embodied carbon analyses.

• Background in environmental science, engineering, economics, policy analysis, or a related technical field.
,
• Expertise with environmental product declarations and product category rules for construction materials.
,
• Demonstrated ability to apply embodied carbon analyses through work experience, preferably in environmental consulting.

• Experience working directly with clients and leading small teams.
,
• Strong problem-solving, systems thinking, quantitative, and critical thinking skills.
,
• Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis, including experience with LCA software (e.g., SimaPro or openLCA), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with Python programming language.
