Generac Power Systems Inc is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer II for their Reno, NV location. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining software for renewable energy production and storage systems. Responsibilities include developing control systems and testing applications using Rust, Python, and Yocto. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience. This is an onsite position at the Engineering Center of Excellence.

Generac Clean Energy Solutions (GCES) is on a mission to drive down global carbon emissions through the manufacture and sale of renewable energy production and storage technologies. GCES is seeking a Embedded Software Engineer Level II to contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of the system that controls and monitors device in renewable energy production and storage solutions deployed to residential sites. In this role you will be part of a team developing and testing power generation control systems that can be remotely controlled and monitored using web and mobile technology solutions. You will be involved in the design and development of innovative software systems that are web enabled embedded real time control systems that provide electrical power generation.

This role is located onsite at the Engineering Center of Excellence in Reno, NV.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design and implement software applications to control or monitor residential energy storage systems (ESS)
• Contribute to the system gateway code base (Rust, Python, and Yocto)
• Implement system/end-to-end tests to exercise changes
• Represent your features with internal and external stakeholders
Minimal Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline
• 2+ years overall experience
• Experience in design and implementation of software applications in a professional context.
• Familiarity with edge device firmware application implementation using Rust or C or C++,

Preferred Qualifications:
• MQTT or CAN and Protocol buffers
• Embedded Linux Platform experience
• Worked with a wide variety of modern and emerging technologies.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and related technologies (e.g. CircleCI or Jenkins)

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
