Job Description

Covanta Holding Corporation is seeking an Electrician for their Tampa, FL power plant. The role involves maintenance, inspection, and repair of electrical equipment up to 4160 volts. Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and documenting work. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in a similar role. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered. This is a full-time position and not remote.
About the position

Under general maintenance supervision, the Electrician performs inspections, preventative, and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment 4160 volts or lower, and documentation. Electricians will inspect, repair and/or replace electrical control circuits, variable speed controllers, plant lighting, and switchgear 4160/480 volts and lower. He will troubleshoot and repair electrical component malfunctions on plant equipment and perform corrective maintenance on cranes, motors, conveyors, trammels, fans, cherry pickers, etc. This individual will terminate electric motors 4160 volts or lower. Installing conduit and wiring for new installations and repairs to existing installations is required. Performing preventative maintenance on all plant electrical equipment is essential and completing required documentation of work to be done and accomplished. Routinely takes readings using multi-meter and megger for testing of motors and circuits. Reading, interpreting, and utilizing stores catalog and equipment manuals for technical clarification and requisitioning parts and material is required. The employee should be able to operate a computer to access the Maintenance Management Program for equipment history and work order reviews, both corrective and preventive. This position offers a $5,000 sign-on-bonus.

Responsibilities
• Perform maintenance on industrial plant electrical distribution systems in a waste to energy facility.

• Perform maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers.
,
• Perform maintenance of higher voltage switch yard equipment and steam turbine driven generators.
,
• Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste boilers and its associated equipment including but not limited to, fans, motors, & refuse cranes.
,
• Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste air pollution control systems.
,
• Perform various electrical and electrical maintenance and repair work as assigned using proper Reworld safety practices.
,
• Troubleshoot electrical problems and complete all maintenance work records.
,
• Actively participate in plant shutdown work including tear down inspection of electrical plant equipment.
,
• Keep work area and tools in clean, safe, and orderly manner. Perform plant and shop housekeeping chores.
,
• Complete required Reworld training within the assigned timelines.
,
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the E&I leadership team.

Requirements
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
,
• Formal technical or apprentice training preferred.
,
• A minimum of three years of experience as a maintenance electrician in a power plant or a similar field required.
,
• Strong working knowledge of 120V to 4160V, AC switchgear.
,
• The ability to work from layout plans and blueprints for electrical equipment installation or troubleshooting work.
,
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals.
,
• Ability to log onto a computer and complete assigned training.
