Job Description
Shell is seeking an Electrical Engineer for Green Hydrogen in Bengaluru, India. The role involves expertise in renewable energy integration with electrolyzers, optimizing power conversion, and developing electrical architectures. Responsibilities include technical deliverables in electrical engineering, feasibility studies, and data analysis for optimizing Green Hydrogen systems. A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5-10 years of relevant experience are required, along with strong knowledge in power electronics and system design.
As Electrical Engineer for Green Hydrogen, you will be largely responsible to bring in and apply the expertise of various renewable energy sources (solar PV, wind) and their integration with electrolyzers as well as downstream process equipment to produce Green Hydrogen. You are required to apply cross-domain expertise in renewable energy generation, power electronics, electrical system design, process integration, and data analytics to contribute toward Shell’s plan for the energy transition.
Technical focus areas in this role are as follows:
Research on power electronics hardware and software to enable efficient power conversion from renewable sources to electrolyzers.
Optimizing power conversion in the distribution system between the renewable source and electrolyzer.
Develop new electrical architectures to enable efficient and balanced coupling between renewable sources and electrolyzers.
Developing cost reduction pathways for power conversion based on deep technical understanding and competitive intelligence from major Original Equipment Manufacturers.
Experience in working with National Grid Codes and compliance verification process with Transmission System Operator and Distribution System Operator (e.g. NL TenneT grid code, UK national grid code).
Technology development for powering GW scale electrolysis.
Proven track record in industry-relevant electrical engineering software packages such as Digsilent/Powerfactory, ETAP, and PSCAD.
Ability to perform front-end engineering studies covering the following aspects of electrical system design:
HV Cable sizing calculations
Reactive power simulation
(Steady state) load flow simulations
Short circuit current simulation
Insulation coordination
Control and protection study
EM-field and Influence study
Responsible for making the technical deliverables related to electrical engineering (e.g., single line diagram, electrical interface diagrams, load lists).
Responsible for the electrical technical deliverables within a multi-disciplinary project team during the Feasibility/Select/Define Phase of the project.
Analyzing the data from existing pilot plants to develop insights for optimization of Green Hydrogen systems.
Additional responsibilities will include analysis as well as recommendations towards international standards for Green hydrogen to achieve scalability of systems for cost reduction..
Qualification And Experience:-
Must have Electrical Engineering degree (bachelor’s is a pre-requisite, with master’s in renewable power and system) and a solid 5-10 years technical background in Electrical Engineering
Strong knowledge with demonstrated evidence in power electronics
Ability to perform pre-feasibility and feasibility studies covering the Green Hydrogen system design.
Strong learning focus, creativity, and persistence. Natural tendency to explore new possibilities and apply skills to solve unique and complex multi-disciplinary problems.
Knowledge of various relevant electrolysis technologies and Knowledge of Power to Products supply chains
Motivated to learn and master new fields of technology
Demonstrated commitment to HSSE.
Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and experts on a working level
Capable of effective and impactful communications across topics, audiences, and formats at a working level
Balancing different views and getting people to work together effectively virtually
