Job Description
Guidon Design is seeking an Electrical Designer in Indianapolis, IN, focusing on healthcare projects. The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and 5 years of MEP design experience, particularly in healthcare. Responsibilities include designing electrical systems, creating construction documentation, and integrating sustainable practices. Candidates with LEED experience and knowledge of renewable energy will be preferred. This position offers hands-on experience in a collaborative office environment.

Job Purpose:
The Electrical Designer will play a critical role in designing and analyzing electrical systems for diverse projects, with a strong emphasis on healthcare design experience. This position demands outstanding technical expertise, proficiency in managing multiple projects concurrently, and advanced proficiency with design tools, particularly Revit smart schedules. Candidates with experience in healthcare, science and technology, Veteran Affairs (VA) projects, and sustainable energy systems will be highly regarded.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in electrical MEP design
• Strong preference for candidates with healthcare facility design experience
• Experience with Veteran Affairs (VA) projects is a plus
• Proficiency in preparing detailed construction documentation and using Revit smart schedules
Skills/Qualities:
• LEED accreditation or experience working on LEED-certified projects.
• Knowledge of solar applications and renewable energy systems.
• Experience balancing competing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
• Familiarity with healthcare-specific systems, such as emergency power systems, medical equipment interfaces, and infection control considerations.
Responsibilities:
• Electrical Design:
• Design and develop electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, telecommunications, security, fire alarm systems, and renewable energy solutions.
• Create detailed construction documentation, including floor plans, one-line diagrams, schedules (including smart schedules), and specifications.
• Healthcare and VA Projects:
• Apply expertise in designing electrical systems for healthcare facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as NFPA 99 and other healthcare-specific regulations.
• Leverage experience in VA projects to ensure compliance with federal standards and project requirements.
• Sustainability and Renewable Energy:
• Integrate sustainable practices and renewable energy solutions into project designs.
• Contribute to LEED-certified projects by ensuring designs meet sustainability standards.
• Project Management and Coordination:
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, timelines, and budget adherence.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including MEP engineers, architects, structural, civil, contractors, and clients, to align designs with project objectives.
• Code Compliance and Analysis:
• Review designs to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, including NFPA, NEC, IBC, and ASHRAE 90.1, as well as state and local regulations.
• Conduct engineering analyses, including load calculations, and budget estimations.
• Field Surveys and Construction Support:
• Conduct on-site surveys to collect data for accurate designs and layouts.
• Review contractor cost estimates, bid packages, and construction submittals for compliance with project specifications.
• Provide technical support during construction, resolving issues to ensure successful project delivery.
• Client Interaction:
• Present design concepts to clients and stakeholders, addressing feedback and incorporating modifications to enhance project outcomes..
