Job Description
Montrose Environmental Group is seeking a Terrestrial Ecology Co-op or Summer Student for their Guelph, ON office. The role involves supporting various ecological projects, including vegetation and wildlife surveys, data management, and report preparation. Candidates should be enrolled in relevant environmental programs and possess strong communication skills. The position requires teamwork, safety awareness, and a valid driver’s license. Travel to northern Ontario for fieldwork may be necessary.

• Support vegetation, wetland, aquatic, arborist and wildlife projects, which will include field programs as a crew second

As a Terrestrial Ecology Co-op or Summer Student, you will join our Guelph, Ontario office as part of our Eastern Ecology Team.
The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of vegetation, wetland, aquatic and wildlife projects with responsibilities as follows:
• Active participation in maintaining Montrose’s strong safety culture
• Assist with the coordination and execution of vegetation and wetland surveys, aquatic surveys and various wildlife surveys
• Assist with field survey data management
• Assist with the preparation of reports
• Travel, sometimes to northern Ontario locations, will be required to carry out field programs.
What We Are Looking For
• Must be enrolled in terrestrial ecology, biology, environmental science, renewable resource management, or similar technical or undergraduate program at a recognized post-secondary institution
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• A valid class G driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Cares about their safety and the safety of others
• Brings knowledge of terrestrial sciences and assessment practices
• Works easily in a team
• Is thoughtful, thorough and inquisitive in completing office and field tasks
• Has energy and desire to support others and respond to the changing needs of a dynamic environment

This is a temporary position with an hourly rate range of $23.00-$27.00, starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location.
