The Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts is hiring an Ecologist for their Nature Based Solutions team in Malpas, UK. You will deliver positive conservation outcomes through the management of small scale and single species projects, high-quality ecological surveys, reports and land management advice.
You will provide technical and administrative support on larger/more complex projects, assist in the co-ordination of surveys and in the preparation of client quotes/tenders. You will also support the wider Nature Recovery team with the delivery of commercial-based services to supplement the Trust’s finances and build financial resilience.
The role is perfect for those who have an interest in wildlife conservation and are wanting to apply their practical ecological skills to improve our understanding of the natural world and help make a real difference on the ground. We welcome applications from assistant ecologists looking to make the next step in their career.
The ideal candidate will have a capable level of knowledge and experience in botanical and habitat identification and an understanding of the Defra statutory biodiversity metric / condition assessment. Have experience in protected species survey with capable knowledge in at least one taxonomic group (as a minimum). Have basic knowledge and/or experience of ecological assessment. Be capable in the use of ArcGIS and possess strong all round IT skills (although candidates showing a proficiency with other similar mapping software may be considered). Have a capable level of knowledge and/or experience in the application of current protected species wildlife legislation and the application of protected species mitigation licensing processes.
