Job Description

SPIN Global is seeking an Ecologist in Raleigh, NC to conduct ecological evaluations and impact assessments for disaster-affected areas, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Responsibilities include providing expert analysis for ecosystem restoration, collaborating with teams, and managing documentation via FEMA's Grants Portal. Candidates must have a Master's degree in Ecology, relevant experience, and certifications. This is a full-time onsite position.
SPIN Global is a Maryland-based public benefit corporation that exists to disrupt disasters from neighborhoods to nations. We are seeking qualified applicants to build a deployment-ready cadre, prepared to support response operations as opportunities arise. Applicants must possess a FEMA Entry on Duty (EOD).

Responsibilities
• Conduct ecological evaluations and impact assessments for disaster-affected areas, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
• Provide expert analysis and recommendations for ecosystem restoration and preservation efforts.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ecological considerations into disaster recovery strategies.
• Utilize FEMA's Grants Portal to manage documentation and maintain transparency in environmental compliance.
• Prepare and review technical reports, including ecological findings, project plans, and regulatory compliance documentation.
• Stay current with FEMA's training requirements and environmental policies.

Requirements
• Education & Experience:
• Master's degree or higher in Ecology or a related science from an accredited college or university.
• At least 2 years of full-time professional experience post-degree or 5 years of professional experience in addition to the education requirement for Associate Ecologist certification.
• Certified Ecologist (CE) certification required.
• Completion of FEMA courses preferred:
• IS-1000: Public Assistance Program and Eligibility
• IS-1001: The Public Assistance Delivery Model Orientation
• IS-1002: FEMA Grants Portal - Transparency at Every Step
• IS-253.a: Overview of FEMA's Environmental and Historic Preservation Review
• Strong knowledge of ecological principles, environmental regulations, and restoration techniques.
• Proficiency in ecological assessment tools and software.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Work onsite in North Carolina.
• EOD Required.
