Based in Dingwall near Inverness, we work closely with clients across the renewables, construction, and infrastructure sectors to ensure sustainable and environmentally responsible development.

The Role

As an Ecologist & Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW), you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and best practices on a range of exciting projects. Your responsibilities will include:
• Conducting site visits to monitor environmental compliance on both small- and large-scale construction sites.
• Delivering Toolbox Talks to site operatives on key ecological and environmental topics.
• Providing practical guidance to clients on meeting their ecological and environmental obligations.
• Carrying out protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and pre-works walkover surveys.
• Producing high-quality ecological reports and species protection plans to support planning and licensing requirements.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver practical, professional advice.

This role would be full time Monday – Friday, with part time positions considered for experienced candidates.

What We’re Looking For
• A relevant Environmental or Ecology BSc (Hons) degree.
• A full, valid driving licence and willingness to travel/work away from home when required (overnight accommodation provided where necessary).
• Experience conducting ecological surveys.
• Ability to work independently (with team support) in remote locations.
• Flexibility to work unsociable hours when necessary (e.g., bat surveys, nightshift work).
• A personable and professional approach, with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• A good sense of humour.
• 5+ years of experience in the ecology/environmental sector, including demonstrable EnvCoW experience.
• CSCS Card.
• Tree climbing qualifications.
