About the position

The Ecological Restoration Designer/Engineer position at ECT involves providing technical and physical support to various water and natural resource projects that focus on restoration ecology, landscape design, and green infrastructure. This role is crucial in ensuring that restoration projects are effectively planned, designed, and executed, contributing to the overall health of ecosystems and communities. The designer/engineer will be part of a collaborative design team, working on the development of plans, details, and specifications for restoration projects. This includes drafting and design work using AutoCAD, specifically AutoCAD Civil 3D, to create construction drawings that meet project requirements. In addition to design responsibilities, the position requires assisting with water resources projects, which encompasses field data collection, construction oversight, and document preparation. The designer/engineer will also conduct surface water and water quality calculations, perform data analysis for restoration and green infrastructure projects, and prepare technical memos and reports. A strong emphasis on safety is paramount, as the role involves working in various weather conditions and environments, including lakes, rivers, and industrial facilities. Responsibilities
• Support restoration design planning/layout/permitting.

• Lead and participate in the development of plans, details, and specifications for restoration projects as a member of the design team.

• Provide drafting and design using AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D).

• Assist with water resources projects including tasks associated with field data collection, construction oversight, document preparation and file management.

• Provide construction observation.

• Conduct surface water and water quality calculations, data analysis, for restoration, green infrastructure, hydraulics/hydrology and permit applications.

• Prepare technical memos and reports.

• Contribute to a positive and professional environment.

Requirements
• 5-7 years' experience in engineering, restoration ecology, Landscape Architecture, or a similar discipline.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual communications and meeting platforms.

• Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D to design and draft construction drawings.

• Background and knowledge in stream mechanics, natural channel design, aquatic and/or terrestrial ecology, fisheries, GIS, and GPS equipment.
