Position: Marketing Coordinator

Location: 233 S Dade Ave, Ferguson, MO 63135

Hours: Paid Training (10 hours per week June - August); then Full-Time

Schedule: 10 hour per week paid training schedule to be determined; Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends required once Full-Time with the opportunity to flex time.

Classification: Part, then Full-Time

Reports to: Development Director

Salary: $20/hour

Organization Overview:

Founded in 2008, EarthDance Organic Farm School is a grassroots nonprofit organization based in Ferguson, Missouri. EarthDance offers a variety of programs to educate people of all ages about organic farming and gardening, healthy food and sustainability. Our educational offerings are equity-centered and rooted in regenerative organic principles, including hands-on education and farm training. EarthDance’s core educational programs include Spring Training for Gardeners, farm apprenticeships, service learning and volunteer opportunities, and educational farm tours. In addition, there are collaborative programs and partnerships where EarthDance provides space, education, and support, including the Farm to School initiative with the Ferguson-Florissant School District, hosting community events, and welcoming all kinds of groups to the farm, from summer campers to university students to corporate teams, and more. We also host and engage people from all walks of life via concerts, potlucks, and other special events.

Job Description

The Marketing Coordinator supports EarthDance’s communications efforts, promoting engagement with the non-profit teaching farm’s programs, workshops, fresh food, events, and fundraising opportunities. EarthDance uses a Pay What You Can model to offer organic, regenerative gardening and farming education and food to our community, with a focus on making these equitably accessible.

This role serves as the project coordinator for EarthDance’s marketing initiatives and is responsible for developing and executing social media strategies. They will collaborate with the Marketing & Development Team to develop, create, and distribute marketing content and collateral that is aligned with our mission and values, helping to connect people to the work and learning of the teaching farm in meaningful ways.

The Marketing Coordinator develops social media content, public and donor-facing communications, contributes content to e-newsletters and other email communications - using programs like Canva, Constant Contact, and DonorPerfect, and serves as the primary point of contact for external marketing contractors and volunteers (e.g., video production teams and graphic designers). They will also be responsible for soliciting in-kind contributions for events and supporting the execution of events on and off-farm.

The ideal candidate believes deeply in EarthDance’s mission and understands the impact of strong visual and written communication. They are a skilled storyteller and marketer who is exceptionally well-organized and detail-oriented. They are committed, whether they have prior experience or not, to driving efforts that enhance and professionalize EarthDance’s communications accessibility. Full-Time Essential Job Functions and Duties
1. Marketing & Communications (70%)

Project Coordination
• Oversee execution of print collateral, including soliciting bids and coordinating with printers to ensure timely and accurate project completion.
• Work with department heads to track spending on marketing initiatives.

Regular/Ongoing Communications
• Develop and implement storytelling and marketing strategies in consultation with the Marketing & Development Team.
• Interview and document EarthDance constituents via photography and recorded audio &/or video.
• Develop and execute social media plans.
• Collaborate with other staff members and departments to promote participation in, and awareness of, EarthDance programs and initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Marketing & Development Team, Executive Director, and other staff to ensure timely communication with EarthDance constituents. This includes the collaborative development of materials such as blog posts, newsletters, social media content, and other communications.
• Design EarthDance marketing materials using Canva Pro, ensuring alignment with the organization’s brand guidelines (e.g., brochures, digital assets, event invitations, direct mail pieces).
• Write and distribute press releases as needed.
• Secure earned media coverage and serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries.
• Manage and update EarthDance’s website by coordinating cross-departmental needs. Excitement about exploring potential futures for the EarthDance website.
• Serve as the liaison for external marketing contractors and volunteers, such as video production teams and graphic designers.

Special Campaigns
• Track spending on marketing objectives in collaboration with department heads.
• Support the development and communications team in executing direct mailing campaigns, including event invitations and stewardship mailings (e.g., annual reports).
• Oversee print collateral production, ensuring quality and timely completion.
• Collaborate to devise and market EarthDance merchandise.
2. Special Events (15%)
• Participate in events committee meetings to help plan and coordinate cultivation and fundraising events.
• Assist with event planning and promotion
• Solicit in-kind donations for events and support the execution of events on and off-farm.
• Provide event support as needed.
• Capture photos and videos from events for communications
• Help carry-out special events in various capacities as needed
• Provide general support for execution of on-farm and community outreach events
3. Team Participation (15%)
• Engage in EarthDance programming to gain a deeper understanding of the organization’s agroecological systems and the communities it serves.
• Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings.
• Contribute to overall team goals and initiatives.

• Experience with systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, and managing files and records.
• Strong computer skills and experience with systems such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications Required:
• Demonstrated exceptional written and verbal communication in a professional role
• Demonstrated photography and photo editing skills in a professional context
• Experience producing social media content in a professional context
• Experience producing original graphic design (Adobe Suite or Canva preferred)
• Demonstrated strong time management and organization skills
• Proficiency with Google Workspace
• Experience contributing to a professional website (Wordpress and user-friendly platforms such as Squarespace/Wix preferred.)

Qualifications Desired:
• Experience working with mass-communications/donor-cultivation software (Constant Contact preferred)
• Demonstrated video editing/production skills
• Work or volunteer experience in the nonprofit sector
• Skills in communication accessibility (ie. communicating across reading levels, producing image ID’s on social media, alt-text for website images, screen-reader friendliness of website, etc.)
