Beebe Healthcare is hiring a full-time Environmental Services Technician I in Lewes, DE. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and order in assigned areas of the medical center, including patient and non-patient spaces. Responsibilities include cleaning, floor care, documentation, equipment maintenance, supply management, and infection prevention. Overview

Under direct supervision maintain assigned areas with the medical center in sanitary, safe, attractive, and orderly condition.

Responsibilities

CLEAN: assigned areas on the campus(Patient/Non-patient; Offices; Elevators; Grounds/Parking garage/Lobbies/Conference rooms) following the standards of the location. Washing furnishings/curtains/walls; Vacuuming upholstery; Removing of trash, cardboard, biohazard supplies and replenishing the collection devices; Equipment cleaning with disinfectant cleaning solutions, following established policies and procedures, paying close attention to details of the area assigned. Notify leads when evidence of pests have been sited. Must always leave the locations assigned neat and orderly after moving all items to clean. FLOORS: Sweeping, mopping, waxing vinyl tile floors; vacuuming and shampooing carpets; scrubbing grouts following the established policies and procedures: report when floors are in need of more than minor attention(mopping/vacuuming) so that scheduling of waxing/shampooing can placed on the project list; complete floor care, as assigned and needed. DOCUMENTATION/COMMUNICATION: Support all required documentation of the department; from daily assignment documentation; to weight of soiled laundry; to inventory of linen; to projects that have been requested; to equipment/facility that require attention; to discharge patient room data. Keep up to date on department updates(read emails/dept. bulletin boards frequently; attend department meetings monthly and participate in improvements. EQUIPMENT: Report concerns related to equipment(broken parts/unsafe/unusual sounds/broken call bells; leaking faucets), furniture (safety issues/soiled), and work areas throughout the hospital (soiled tiles/broken tiles/damage to walls/burnt out lights); Leave our equipment as specified, which may include emptied/cleaned, and charging. Complete all tasks listed for EVS Assistant, operation of wheelchair washer. SUPPLIES/STORAGE: Monitor your supplies- use chemicals appropriately, share with leads when supplies are low or chemicals are not working for their applications, share with leads when minor equipment (mop heads/mop handles/vacuums) are required; Assist in the storage of all supplies in our department. LINEN: collect soiled linen following infection prevention procedures; prepare linen for laundering on and off campus; wash and dry linen in our laundry per our dept. policy; deliver cleaned laundry to the designated areas following the established stocking levels; maintaining our laundry area clean and organized so items are easy to find; documenting the soiled laundry weight per dept. policy; maintain our washing/drying equipment in good operation. Report when service may be needed. INFECTION PREVENTION: observes and follows all infection policies; cleans and sanitizes after blood and body fluids spills as needed; using proper techniques; consistently uses proper personal protective equipment. Follows the hand hygiene policy. DEPARTMENT SUPPORT: Flexible in assignments from working a variety of areas completing tasks related to floor care to cleaning to linen processing; eagerly and positively assists the leads in maintaining expectations/needs of our customers; Flexible in shift, as needed.

Qualifications

Previous cleaning experience in a healthcare institution, school, or hospitality environment preferred. On the job training provided. Experience with any equipment used to clean from floor equipment to sweepers to commercial washers/dryers; Must have excellent customer service skills.
