Develop and implement strategies to protect the environment and natural resources in the state of Illinois.
Conduct thorough environmental assessments and identify potential risks to the environment.
Review and analyze data to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Collaborate with other departments and agencies to address environmental concerns and find solutions.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal and external stakeholders on environmental protection issues.
Conduct site inspections and investigations to identify and address potential environmental hazards.
Develop and oversee environmental restoration and mitigation projects.
Stay up-to-date on current environmental laws and regulations and make recommendations for updates or changes.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of environmental protection programs and make recommendations for improvement.
Communicate complex technical information and data to non-technical audiences, including the general public.
Conduct training and educational programs to promote sustainable practices and raise awareness about environmental protection.
Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other professionals to develop and implement innovative solutions to environmental issues.
Prepare and submit reports, proposals, and other documents related to environmental protection initiatives.
Manage and maintain accurate records and documentation related to environmental protection projects and activities.
Represent the state of Illinois at meetings, conferences, and other events related to environmental protection.
