Job Description
The State of Maryland is hiring an Environmental Health Specialist Trainee in Cambridge, MD. This full-time role focuses on protecting public health by enforcing laws related to wells, wastewater systems, land subdivision, nuisance control, and air quality. Candidates must possess a certificate of eligibility for licensing as an Environmental Health Specialist and may need to operate a vehicle. No prior experience is required.

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this full-time position will be to protect public health through the enforcement of applicable laws and regulations concerning individual wells, on-site wastewater disposal systems, subdivision of land, nuisance control, and air quality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists under the licensing requirements for Environmental Health Specialists.
Experience: None.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. At the time of hire, candidates for positions in this classification must possess a certificate of eligibility to be licensed as an Environmental Health Specialist from the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position. For education obtained outside the U.S., any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing an evaluation for equivalency by a foreign credential evaluation service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview).
