Interplastic Corporation is seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to sustain effective EHS programs and management systems at our Hawthorne, CA manufacturing plant. This position is accountable for facility compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations. As a member of the Plant Management Team, the Plant EHS Manager interacts with all levels in the administration, training and execution of corporate EHS policies, procedures and program activities. Candidates should have a successful track-record of tracking regulatory requirements, completing EHS compliance activities, engaging employees in EHS activities and maintaining positive relationships with regulatory agencies.
Essential Functions
• Drive, maintain, and promote a safety culture throughout the Plant.
• Maintain a working knowledge of the rules and regulations of various regulatory agencies as they impact the Plant.
• Manage EHS programs established by the corporation that will meet or exceed EPA/OSHA requirements.
• Manage and promote the Plant’s ISO -14001 Environmental Management System.
• Conduct employee EHS training and manage safety and environmental concerns in timely fashion.
• Conduct plant EHS inspections to identify potential compliance irregularities and monitor program success.
• Support incident management activities at the Plant, including emergency management, investigations and CAPA.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies whenever appropriate.
• Lead the use and improvement of EHS management system software at the Plant.
• Monitor, compile and distribute plant EHS information to corporate stakeholders to ensure healthy communication of plant EHS compliance conditions.
• Assist with the review and improvement of EHS management systems in alignment with corporate goals.
• Work with Plant leadership to develop and execute plans to minimize waste, with an emphasis on the elimination of hazardous waste.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by plant and corporate management.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Experiences
• BS in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field from an accredited learning institution.
• 5 – 7 years previous experience in EHS regulations.
• Experience in implementing or using ISO Quality, Environmental, and/or Safety management systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and EHS management systems software.
• Chemicals manufacturing and Process Safety Management experience.
• Good working relationship with federal, state and local EHS agencies.
• Understanding of polymer science and the environmental, health & safety hazards associated with resin manufacturing.
