About the position
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional to lead the newly established Division of Aquatic Species Restoration. This pivotal role is designed for individuals who are passionate about aquatic conservation and are eager to contribute to the protection, conservation, and enhancement of the commonwealth's aquatic resources. The Division of Aquatic Species Restoration Chief will be responsible for providing leadership, coordination, technical guidance, and resources to advance the statewide program aimed at restoring, recovering, and propagating various aquatic species, including diadromous fishes, freshwater mussels, non-game fish, amphibians, reptiles, and other aquatic organisms. A significant focus will be placed on threatened and endangered species, as well as species of greatest conservation need within these taxonomic groups. The successful candidate will possess a broad technical knowledge in the ecology, management, and restoration of aquatic organisms. This position requires a proactive approach to leadership and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve the division's goals. The Chief will also be expected to engage in strategic planning, program development, and implementation of best practices in aquatic species restoration. Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and coordination for the Division of Aquatic Species Restoration.
,
• Advance the statewide program for the restoration and recovery of aquatic species.
,
• Conduct technical guidance and resource allocation for aquatic species management.
,
• Focus on the conservation of threatened and endangered species and species of greatest conservation need.
,
• Engage with stakeholders to promote collaboration in aquatic conservation efforts.
,
• Develop and implement strategic plans for aquatic species restoration initiatives.
Requirements
• One year of experience as a Fisheries Biologist 3, PFBC; or
,
• Three years of professional experience conducting fish studies, investigations, or research, including one year of supervisory experience, and a bachelor's degree in a biological science with 12 college credits in relevant fields such as fish biology, fisheries management, or aquatic ecology; or

• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional supervisory experience in fish studies and 12 college credits in relevant fields.
