District 3 Transportation Engineering Summer Intern (12508301)

The State of South Carolina is hiring multiple summer interns for District 3 Transportation Engineering in Greenville, SC. Interns will assist with surveying, construction inspection, and material testing. Responsibilities include aiding roadway inspectors, preparing reports, and using surveying equipment. Applicants should be enrolled in an engineering or related program. Pay ranges from $17.00 to $23.00 per hour based on qualifications.
This posting will be used to fill multiple summer internship positions in the Department of Transportation District 3 Construction and/or Maintenance offices located in Greenville, Spartanburg, Pickens, and Oconee Counties.

In the area of Engineering, the responsibilities include:
• Assists in the areas of surveying, construction, inspection and/or material sampling and testing.
• Assists roadway inspectors in the inspection of roadway construction, including areas of asphalt paving, earthwork, base, drainage operations, and concrete placement operations.
• Aids with office duties, preparing construction reports and daily work reports in Site Manager, assists with reconciling quantities to close out projects.
• Assists survey parties, uses surveying equipment correctly to measure elevation, distance, and set vertical and horizontal controls.

Pay rate is between $17.00 - $23.00 per hour depending on qualifications.
A high school diploma; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Applicants must be accepted into or currently enrolled in a two-year college or university program in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management.
