Job Description
The City and County of San Francisco is hiring a Distributed Energy Resources Project Manager for the SFPUC Power Enterprise. This role involves managing solar, energy efficiency, and decarbonization projects, overseeing research and technology assessments, and ensuring project delivery within budget and on schedule. The manager will lead a team, communicate progress to diverse stakeholders, and contribute to innovative energy solutions like micro-grids. This is a full-time position based in San Francisco, CA.
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Power Enterprise has two separate retail electric power programs - Hetch Hetchy Power, San Francisco's Publicly Owned Utility, and CleanPowerSF, San Francisco's Community Choice Aggregation program serving approximately 70% of the electricity consumed in San Francisco. Power Enterprise serves this load with a combination of owned and purchased resources.
SFPUC owns and operates the Hetch Hetchy Water and Power Project, which includes 385 MW hydro-electric power generation in Moccasin, California, solar arrays throughout San Francisco, and biogas cogeneration facilities, which together produce cost-effective energy with a zero-greenhouse gas (GHG-free) emission profile. In addition, the SFPUC develops and manages a portfolio of short, medium, and long-term power and storage purchases to serve our load.
Under general administrative direction, the Distributed Energy Resources Project Manager is responsible for managing direct install solar, solar plus storage, energy efficiency, and building decarbonization projects. The incumbent will also plan pilots and projects that further goals and knowledge in the area of micro-grids and new technologies and applications of distributed energy resources more broadly. The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Analyzes results and applies lessons learned toward next phase of planning and piloting
• Communicates project progress and outcomes to a wide variety of audiences, including technical specialists, policy makers, and community representatives
