Job Description
Clēnera seeks a Director of Transmission & Interconnection to lead a team managing utility-scale solar and storage projects from pre-application to construction. Responsibilities include developing strategies, maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and managing project timelines. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of experience in the power generation industry. The position is remote, allowing flexibility in work location.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director of Transmission & Interconnection is responsible for leading the transmission and interconnection team in successfully shepherding Clenera's pipeline of utility scale solar and storage projects from pre-application to studies and agreement execution through construction and COD. This team is the subject matter expert on all economic, financial, and regulatory issues related to transmission and interconnection regionally and nationally.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Lead the transmission and interconnection team including technical and business resources.
• Develop transmission and interconnection strategy in collaboration with the Development team by region to align with company objectives and a quickly changing regulatory environment.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, utilities, and other external stakeholders.
• Drive process development, improvement, maintenance, and training.
• Responsible for coordinating and daily management of transmission and interconnection development-related activities for a portfolio of utility scale solar projects, including coordinating cross-functionally (internal and external) in various functional areas during the project's interconnection lifecycle.
• Deliver a firm understanding of current utility and ISO tariffs including the specific to effectively optimize project transmission and interconnection results.
• Manage the critical path and transmission and interconnection deadlines for successful completion of utility scale solar projects in coordination with the Development team.
• Negotiate transmission and interconnection related documents with transmission providers while also coordinating with the Legal department on interconnection requirements like lease and purchase agreements, easements, title due diligence, and consultant service agreements.
• Support project due diligence and assist with risk analysis to business development and origination teams on potential greenfield development and project acquisition opportunities.
• Oversee technical staff on cost estimation of interconnection upgrades and power flow studies for injection of solar and battery storage generating facilities.
• Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, economics, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in the power generation industry or related.
• Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
• Skills/Attributes:
• Demonstrated experience in successfully leading teams.
• Strong preference for technical and/or engineering background.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines throughout the development lifecycle.
• Prior experience ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Strong critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
