About the position
The Director of Sustainability at the University of California, Riverside is responsible for managing a portfolio of sustainability initiatives and projects. This role involves close coordination with the Academic Sustainability Faculty Lead and aims to position UC Riverside as a leader in sustainability within higher education. The director will develop collaborative models to address sustainability priorities and challenges at various levels, while also overseeing sustainability management, policy, and program development.
Responsibilities
• Manage a portfolio of sustainability initiatives and projects in support of the Office of Sustainability.

• Coordinate closely with the Academic Sustainability Faculty Lead.
,
• Assist in positioning UC Riverside as a leader in sustainability in higher education.
,
• Develop a collaborative organizational model to address campus sustainability priorities.
,
• Provide recommendations for the formulation and execution of campus-wide sustainability strategy.
,
• Oversee sustainability management, policy, innovation, and program development & assessment.
,
• Establish effective communication strategies for sustainability planning and reporting.
,
• Manage data collection for sustainability reporting to various organizations.
,
• Foster partnerships across academic and operational areas of the university.
Requirements
• Experience in sustainability management and strategy development.
,
• Knowledge of environmental protection, economic stability, social equity, energy, climate change, water, waste, transportation, procurement, food systems, and green buildings.

• Strong communication and data management skills.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with AASHE STARS, Sierra Club Green Schools, and Princeton Review Green College Guide reporting.

• Familiarity with higher education sustainability initiatives.
Benefits
• Competitive salary range of $90,400 - $169,000 annually.
