Job Purpose: As the Director of Structural Engineering at Guidon Design, you will be a key leader within the firm, responsible for driving client development, overseeing strategic leadership initiatives, and managing the Structural Team. Your role will involve guiding the pursuit of new client opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, acting as the Principal in Charge for key accounts, and addressing project challenges as they arise. You will supervise the Structural Team, analyzing staffing needs from Project Managers and allocating resources effectively to meet project demands. Additionally, you will mentor your team, setting professional development and training goals to foster growth. Often, you will take on a secondary role as a Senior Project Manager, leading complex projects to ensure successful outcomes. This position is a blend of leadership, client engagement, and project management, crucial for advancing the goals of our Structural Team and contributing to the firm's overall success. Qualifications: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution Licensed as a Structural Engineer Skills/Qualities: Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail Proven experience preparing responses to detailed requests for proposals (RFPs) and high-quality marketing materials Proactive and assertive in problem solving Experience managing parallel assignments Good written, oral communications Strong work ethic and a drive to excel A desire to grow professionally Trustworthy with confidential personnel/company information Detail oriented Breakdown of Tasks: Strategy/Planning = 10% Team Leadership / Mentoring / Training = 10% Sales/client relationships = 30% Project Based Work = 50% Responsibilities: Participate and contribute to the Company’s leadership team to resolve company-wide issues and help develop the strategic direction of the firm. Work with firm leaders and Project Managers to ensure staff resource allocation on all task/project needs are met. Act as Principal in Charge (PIC) for select clients to create and foster client relationships Assess and evaluate potential business opportunities, and make professional recommendations to the Executive Team on those opportunities Develop and lead capture plans for identified PIC clients. Provide input to Executive Team on appropriate staffing levels; suggests new hire/termination. Leads the interview process for assigned new hires. Supervisor for assigned team to include semi-annual regular reviews, Professional development plan and administrative oversight. Primary resource allocator for assigned team. Create and implement a staff training/development plan for assigned team. Recommend salary adjustments and bonuses for assigned staff. Responsible for implementing Personal Improvement Plans (PIP) for their assigned staff if needed. Participate and contribute to both the company’s Executive Leadership (strategic) and Leadership Council (operational) to address issues and help develop the direction of the firm Evaluation Metrics: Guidon has established four Core Behaviors that all Team Members are expected to uphold.
