Action for the Climate Emergency (ACE) operates at the intersection of zero-carbon energy advocacy, strategic media, and civic participation to hasten global decarbonisation. Our cutting-edge media strategies effectively combat disinformation, reduce opposition to renewable energy, and inspire active participation from diverse communities. Engaging tens of millions each year, we continue to mobilise audiences often overlooked by traditional climate initiatives.

JOB SUMMARY

To achieve our climate objectives, we must urgently decarbonise our economy over the next decade. This includes rapidly advancing utility-scale, renewable energy projects. We recognise significant opportunities to drive decarbonisation at local and regional levels by accelerating utility-scale solar, wind, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in communities, challenging detrimental local regulations and policies, and actively promoting supportive policies that yield economic benefits while considering environmental impacts.

The Director of Renewable Energy Initiatives will spearhead campaigns focused on renewable energy siting and permitting, alongside advocacy for regulatory, planning, and policy improvements. This role involves identifying ways to reduce local disinformation and opposition, galvanising support for renewable energy projects, and fostering a regulatory environment conducive to swift deployment. The Director will blend strategic leadership with hands-on campaign execution and research to help ACE fulfil its mission of accelerating utility-scale, zero-carbon energy implementation.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, this position is perfect for an individual with a background in renewable energy development and related regulatory affairs in the UK, who is keen to lead efforts advancing zero-carbon energy solutions at local and regional levels.

This is a full-time, remote position based anywhere in the United Kingdom. The incumbent will operate from a home office, participate in regular in-person events and fieldwork, and engage in both internal and external meetings. Frequent video chat interactions with ACE team members, industry clients, partners, vendors, and funders are expected. The role requires flexibility for irregular hours and a willingness to travel for field-based activities and partner meetings.
