Dean Baldwin Painting is seeking a Director of Environmental Health and Safety in Peru, IN or Macon, GA. The role involves implementing safety policies, ensuring compliance with regulations, training staff, and managing incident reporting. Key responsibilities include developing health and safety programs, conducting audits, and overseeing environmental compliance. The position requires strong communication skills and reports directly to the President. This is an on-site position, not remote.

Company Overview:
Dean Baldwin Painting is a 60-year-old, well-established aircraft painting company with five locations across the U.S. We specialize in commercial, regional, VIP corporate, Airbus, and BBJ aircraft painting. As a privately owned, small-minority, woman-owned business, we provide superior aircraft strip and painting services for airlines, regional, and military aircraft. Our three main locations are in New Mexico, Indiana, and Georgia, with two additional facilities in Arizona and Texas. With 300 employees nationwide, we take pride in our commitment to excellence, safety, and quality service.

Position Summary:

The EHS Director is responsible for implementing and enforcing company safety policies while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role requires strong communication skills to deliver clear and consistent safety messaging, both verbally and in writing. The EHS Director will train and guide managers and employees on safety and environmental policies, identify and integrate best practices to enhance safety programs, and contribute to cost savings through injury prevention, compliance, and operational efficiency. This position reports directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance
• Develop, implement, and oversee health and safety programs in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies.
• Conduct regular audits to identify and address non-compliance issues.
• Maintain accurate safety records and provide data-driven reports to support business safety initiatives.
• Ensure all company facilities adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Oversee facility compliance with key plans and manuals, including:
• Facility Contingency Plan
• Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan
• Emergency Action & Fire Prevention Plan
• Hazardous Materials Management Plan (HMMP)
• Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment (IWP) Permits

Training & Awareness
• Lead safety training programs for managers and employees on workplace safety best practices.
• Coordinate safety committees and awareness initiatives to foster a strong safety culture.
• Implement programs to recognize and incentivize safety compliance.

Incident Management & Reporting
• Monitor and manage workplace incidents, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Review and maintain OSHA 300 logs and oversee annual safety reporting.
• Work with local Safety Managers on Workers’ Compensation and Return-to-Duty programs.

Environmental Oversight
• Manage hazardous waste collection, disposal, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with air, waste, and stormwater sampling and reporting requirements.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and hazardous waste disposal vendors to maintain compliance and cost efficiency.
• Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemicals in inventory.

Department Oversight
• Wastewater: Oversee reporting, process improvements, cost tracking, and compliance at three facilities.
• Environmental: Conduct facility audits, monitor hazardous waste management, and ensure regulatory reporting.
• Safety: Audit safety programs, oversee facility safety committees, and enforce corporate policies.

Required Certifications (or ability to obtain)
• OSHA 501 Trainer Certification (minimum OSHA 30-hour card)
• 49 CFR DOT Training
• 40 CFR RCRA Training
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
• Advanced CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Exposure to loud noise environments.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods.
• Work at heights with appropriate fall protection.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
