Job Description
One Tree Planted is seeking a Director of Corporate Development to lead fundraising efforts in the reforestation sector. The role involves managing a team, developing corporate fundraising strategies, and collaborating with various departments to achieve financial sustainability. Key responsibilities include portfolio management, staff guidance, and data analytics. This position is remote, allowing candidates to work from anywhere.
One Tree Planted is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on global reforestation. As an environmental charity, we are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity, and help reforestation efforts around the world. POSITION PURPOSE:
The role of Director of Corporate Development is critical to the success of the organization and to ensuring its financial sustainability. Primary responsibilities include managing a team of Corporate Development professionals and working with the Chief Development Officer to plan and implement a comprehensive corporate development and fundraising program that meets the organization’s annual fundraising goals. Additionally, this position works closely and collaboratively with the organization’s Marketing, Finance, Programs and Development Operations teams to ensure successful corporate development and fundraising outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Position Responsibilities:
• Strategic Planning and Implementation: The Director of Corporate Development will work closely with the CDO and other key senior leaders to develop and implement a comprehensive corporate fundraising plan aligned with the organization’s mission, values and its budget and revenue goals. This involves presenting fundraising plans and performance metrics to the CDO and other key stakeholders in the organization to ensure that corporate funding activities are aligned with the organization’s overall strategic plan.
• Portfolio Management: This position will be responsible for managing their own portfolio of major corporate donors and overseeing the management of their team’s portfolios ensuring that best practices are followed with corporate targeting, outreach, solicitation, stewardship and tracking of those relationships. Additionally, The Director of Corporate Development will also be responsible for identifying, developing and executing new corporate sponsorship opportunities, key fundraising events and cultivating new corporate donor relationships.
• Staff Management: The Director of Corporate Development will lead and manage a team of fundraising professionals, providing guidance, training, and support as needed. This includes setting goals and expectations for individual team members, monitoring performance, and providing feedback to ensure that fundraising goals are met or exceeded.
• Cross Departmental Collaboration: The Director of Corporate Development must work closely with other key departments within the organization, including but not limited to the Marketing and Communications team, to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials used by the Corporate Development team, and the programs/Operations team to identify funding opportunities best suited for corporate support.
• Data Analytics & Reporting: Working with the Development Operations (CRM) team, the Director of Corporate Development will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed. This involves tracking donor engagement and retention rates, analyzing revenue streams, and making data-driven decisions that help the organization achieve its fundraising goals.
• Other Duties & Internal Meetings:
• Some travel - 5% (budget-dependent)
• Weekly 1:1 meeting with CDO
• Weekly Corporate Development team meetings
• Monthly Development team meetings
• Regular Meetings with the MarCom, Programs, Finance teams
Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a proven track record of success in corporate giving, sponsorships and special events.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling corporate donor communication materials.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team of fundraising professionals.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, senior leadership, key external stakeholders, and Board members.
• Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.

IDEAL LOCATION: Remote, Eastern USA
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
COMPENSATION: typical starting range is $100,000 - $120,000 USD which will be based on skills and experience. Annual performance increase may be available but not guaranteed.
