Element Energy is a dynamic early-stage company reimagining energy storage and battery management. Our breakthrough algorithms and patented control system solve critical battery safety and performance issues in the multi-billion-dollar large-scale grid storage and electric vehicle battery markets. Description
Element Energy is seeking a Director of Technical Sales Engineering to lead and drive the adoption of our battery management technology across key markets. This role is critical in bridging the gap between our cutting-edge technology and customer needs, ensuring that our solutions are effectively communicated, tailored, and deployed to maximize impact and business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in battery storage, energy management, and grid-scale applications, coupled with exceptional sales acumen and a customer-centric approach.
As a key leader within the organization, the Director of Technical Sales Engineering will work closely with the sales, product, and engineering teams to develop technical sales strategies, support business development efforts, and ensure seamless customer integration. This role requires a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and is passionate about accelerating the transition to clean energy.
Responsibilities
• Lead and develop the technical sales engineering team, driving excellence in customer engagement and solution selling.
• Serve as the primary technical advisor for customers, understanding their challenges and positioning Element Energy's technology as the optimal solution.
• Work closely with the sales team to develop compelling value propositions, technical demonstrations, and customer-specific proposals.
• Develop deep relationships with key stakeholders, including utilities, OEMs, battery manufacturers, and energy storage developers.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, customer-friendly messaging to drive sales and adoption.
• Provide technical training and enablement for internal teams and channel partners.
• Support the sales cycle from lead generation to post-sales deployment, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
• Collaborate with the product team to relay customer feedback and influence product development roadmaps.
• Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for technical solutions in collaboration with sales and marketing teams.
• Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory developments to position Element Energy as a leader in battery management products.
Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in technical sales engineering, solutions engineering, or business development in the energy storage, battery technology, or grid-scale solutions sector.
• Deep understanding of battery storage technologies, energy management systems, and grid integration.
• Strong technical background, ideally with experience in energy software, BMS, IoT, or AI-driven analytics.
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful technical sales strategies.
• Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage with C-level executives and technical stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling sales narratives.
• Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment, with the ability to adapt and thrive in an evolving landscape.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience working with large energy providers, battery manufacturers, or automotive OEMs.
• Knowledge of regulatory policies and compliance requirements in energy storage and battery management.
• Familiarity with machine learning applications in energy management.
• Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for clean technology and sustainability.
