Job Description

Job Purpose:

The role will primarily be responsible for tax compliance and reporting matters, including transfer pricing documentation for the Asian jurisdictions. As a shared service, the role will cover Brookfield’s corporate entities, as well as entities across the four business groups. The role also involves providing various tax support functions to the operations in the Asia, with a focus on the Singapore entities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career development and growth as a tax professional in a highly dynamic and challenging work environment.

Key Accountabilities:
• Manage and review direct and indirect tax compliance/external tax reporting for Asia, with a focus on Singapore tax filings (including, but not limited to, Estimated Chargeable Income (ECI) filing and annual corporate income tax filing, quarterly Goods and Services Tax (GST) filing and submission of Statement of Claims for GST remission, submission of MAS Annual Declaration for Singapore fund tax incentive purposes, application for Singapore Certificate of Residency, Singapore withholding tax compliance, FATCA / CRS registration and reporting, etc.)
• Preparation and/or review of tax provision packages, deferred taxes, tax accounting figures and tax disclosures for entities in Asia
• Monitor applicable transfer pricing policies and ensure adequate up-to-date transfer pricing documentation
• Assist with the implementation of tax planning projects and the integration of target companies into the operations and tax processes
• Coordinate internal reporting and provide tax support for operational matters across internal functions in Asia (Accounting, Legal, Treasury, Finance, Compliance, Corporate Secretarial & Business Operations)
• Liaise with Brookfield’s Tax team located globally on reporting and compliance matters
• Monitor changes in tax laws that may impact Brookfield’s tax positions, including tax accounting implications in Asia
• Manage external tax advisors/ outsourcing arrangements for tax compliance
• Manage inquiries and audits by tax authorities
• Develop good working relationships with team members
• Foster a culture of operational excellence
• Assist and/or work on tax planning and other ad-hoc projects, as required, from time to time.

Qualifications Required:
• Position requires an individual with a minimum of 8 years of tax experience in the region
• Big 4 accounting/tax firm or industry experience
• In-depth knowledge of Singapore tax legislation and fund tax incentive schemes
• Basic understanding of tax regimes in Asia and cross-border tax issues

Your Profile
• Experience with tax return computations and tax provision reporting, in particular for Singapore
• Experience managing large complex tax assignments
• Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast-paced and team-oriented environment
• Excellent project management skills and applies a pragmatic and efficient approach to handling complex assignments
• Solid computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills
• Self-management and integrity. Works well individually as well as in a team
• Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
• Strives for continuous improvement
• Ability to understand complex legal structures, regulations and apply judgement
• Very well organised and high attention to detail
