Position Overview:

The Director, Strategic Sourcing, supports knowledge sharing, process collaboration, and leverages scale across AES's global businesses. Responsible for Modules & Racking categories, leading contracting efforts across units and managing a sourcing team for renewable projects globally. Ensures safe, timely, and reliable supply of renewable equipment and services at optimal costs and quality.

May require up to 25% global/national travel.

Location preferences include Louisville, CO;
Salt Lake City, UT;
Houston, TX; or Arlington, VA. AES offers a flexible work environment with expected in-office presence.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Lead contracting efforts for renewable equipment, developing and negotiating supply agreements, and managing a team for timely supply.
• Build strategic vendor relationships, leveraging AES scale for favorable terms.
• Review purchase orders and contracts for compliance, negotiate refunds for defects or delivery issues.
• Maintain procurement processes for new and maintenance projects, and technology improvements.
• Stay informed on technology trends, market forces, and supplier roadmaps.
• Partner with Engineering, Construction, and Development teams to ensure project delivery on time and within budget.
• Define sourcing strategies, explore alternative suppliers, and consolidate requirements.
• Work with project teams on cost reduction and sourcing optimization initiatives.
• Foster internal and external partnerships to achieve strategic sourcing goals.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, Business, Engineering, or related field, with renewable energy studies preferred.
• 7+ years in renewable energy procurement, with at least 2 years managing a team.
• Strong negotiation skills and contract experience.
• Financial acumen including project cash-flow evaluation.
• Proven ability to build consensus in diverse, multicultural environments.
• Well-developed supplier network and strategic partnership skills.
• Experience with power plant/utility equipment procurement.
• Knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership models, MS Access, SAP MM, and SAP Ariba is desirable.
